Did you ever think about "Words"
And the way, that they are used . . .
By regular people, or super Nerds
Some words, really do get abused
Whether speaking aloud, in casual tone
Mumbling to ourselves, when we're alone
Or, all business-like. . . Over the phone
Or softly praying, with sins to atone
But. . . have you ever really wondered
Why some words have simply, faded away
I've given it thought, yes I have pondered
And yet, I can not really say. . . .
Words like Babushka, or Dag nabbit
Cotton Pickin' Gosh or Geez . . .
Words we use, become a habit
Yet I hardly hear, excuse me, or please
Holler, Creek, Hanker, or Howdie
Don't seem to be in our vocabulary
Words like Behave, Cranky, or Rowdy
Are passe, and its kind of scary. . .
If we allow these words, their demise
Accepting these NEW Words, were using
If "English" ceases, don't be surprised
Will we find it funny, or amusing. . . . ?
So, why don't you think on it for a while
See what words you can find, that seem lost
Maybe if we start using them again. . .
We'll have a good vocabulary, at any cost!
