Press Release

He came in by Cobra gunship
Quickly clattering down
To the militarily secure area
In that occupied town

He spoke the current platitudes
 Of his politics with attitude

To the mustered troops
Armed and ready to be away
To face all the possibilities
Of an active service day

And he shook selected hands
While posing for the press
Then back into his gunship
Up and away from his mess

From the safety of his gunship
He looked quickly down
At the battered buildings
Of that ancient town

Then on and back to safety
Thoughts of what he might find
Back at his central seat of power
Lurking uneasily in his mind

But he'd spoken the current platitudes
 Of his politics with attitude

Back in occupied city
War was still under way
But opinion polls had shifted
And he'd gained two points that day
