ADVICE TO THE LOVELORNSo often I read these poems of broken hearts The bleeding of youth when it starts A bit of maturity vision I might impart Remember long ago my first bout with despair Girl I loved so much and didn't care Oh---and yes, in these eyes was she a vision rare See her now and then, three broken marriages who did win? She preferred a man more prone to lie and sin Then there was the skating queen who lived next door Wanted men of adventure found me to be a bore She sits in a tavern dreaming of places on a distant shore Should I tell her I don't dream and have been there? Ah, but in poetry these words that I can share And the girl who left me for a Rock and Roll star! Just another groupie when he left with his guitar Love when it comes doesn't break your heart or make you cry It comes in it's own good time I know not why And you will know it and all other loves will fade away to die Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem
