"Looking Through a Mirror"
When I look in this mirror, I see
My eyes, my nose. . .My features
A very clear reflection, of me
. . . . One of God's creatures
It is the face, I show the world
But . . . can you really tell
What I am like as a person
Or, where my thoughts dwell
No, for looks are only skin deep
And one day will fade away. . .
It's my actions, your memory will keep
And how I acted . . .Day to day
Goodness and kindness, make a mark
And smile wrinkles. . .show so clear
Frowns and scowls, moods so dark
Will appear in your reflection, there
use
Is your image like an open book
One of happiness, sadness or fear
If one takes the time to look. . .
Will they see love and kindness there
I think I will be . . .More attentive
About the expressions, shown on my face
I'd like everyone to see something good
And of meanness. . .Not a trace
