PIECES OF TODAY

PIECES OF TODAY

Gusts of wind, a rattling window
Scampering leaves, a cracked sidewalk
An artist sketches with broken chalk
She hides from her shadow; won't let it talk
--------------Pieces of today--------------

A woman's tin cup a widow's change
Streaks of sadness, a tattered banner
Someone's death in a tragic manner
His empty room has nothing to arrange
--------------Pieces of today--------------

A woeful sound, a broken harp somewhere
Her pillow is tattered, a teacup of tears
Someone sits in silence, the laughter disappears
Amid a field of tulips I kneel in solemn prayer
--------------Pieces of today--------------

The roses lay crinkled; fragile bits of paper
Invisible memories on a nightstand reside
Put out the dwindling fire, it's whisper cold outside
A voice trails beyond the mist of evening's vapor
--------------Pieces of today--------------
morceau de aujourd'hui
