 ramblings and things

Aperitif

A large single malt
A glass of pils to chase it
The lady of his life
with which to mix his wit

She smiles across her glass
Mixer colouring her gin
With slice of fresh lemon
Floating cut wafer thin

And each generous tot
Poured slowly over ice
On this hot summer day
Makes each drink nice

A sense of anticipation
Growing in the air
Smiling at his lady
Relaxing in her chair

The evening progresses
With just one thing certain
Some things are very personal
It's time to draw the curtain

So think what you will
Conclude what you can
Such things are kept secret
Twixt this lady and her man

Each forlorn empty glass sits
By each forlorn empty chair
The small patio deserted
They are no longer there
