REMEMBERING MOMIt's that day again to remember Mom Thirty five years now she is gone She taught me lessons right from wrong She protected me from Evil wasn't strong Her love of Jesus others thought did not belong Her life was cruel how so much faith? She died in his arms the pain he did erase Since she's gone in my world an empty space Tomorrow in my world will be just another day But forgive me now I think of Mom and pray She sits before me in a frame on the lawn And I know finally happy no bruises that did not belong This as is recognizable is about spousal abuse. Mom took many beatings from my drunken father keeping him from hurting us. I know from reading others know what I am referring to. Alcoholism is a cruel and torturous decease. Sorry Mom, unlike you I cannot turn the other cheek. I only feel bad the gun misfired. He burns in hell where he belongs. Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem
