My broken heart

What was once whole is now lying broken
darkened thick dust blurs every broken edge
so very many little pieces that once held together
now lay alone where only time forgets.
Broken and discarded there is no sense of purpose
each lonely piece now so quiet and still
nothing so close as to understand comfort
what was once there is no longer real.
Once there were contours flowing with colour
all held together as somebody's dream
In the hands of its maker so precious forever
but in the hands of a fool just broken it seems.
Cracks began forming after many bad tumbles
with so much damage it just fell apart
now all alone broken… discarded
...that sounds just like my broken heart.
