Big Ben (Personal Poem)
History: Couple were high school sweethearts at Natchez,MS. She wanted poem to reflect Ben's generious and kind nature. They have 1 daughter and 3 grands. Their fav song: Sittin' on the dock of the Bay'. They went to the coast for their honeymoon & saw the movie Camelot. They said I love you daily. Their 40th anniv is coming up in Jan 30 2009. BIG BEN Long ago but not so far away... The Natchez Rebels ruled the day. Martha at sweet sixteen had never been kissed, She was just too much for Ben to resist. The good Lord caused their love to commix. That was way back in the year of sixty-six. High school sweethearts by Devine design Tied the knot the year of nineteen sixty-nine. Once joined in wedlock they knelt to pray By eventide, 'Sittin' On The Dock Of The Bay'. Theirs was a life like unto the fabled Camelot In shiny armor, Ben became her Lancelot. With Ben's big heart, he was always ready In times of need he was just as steady. He's head and shoulders above most men Not just in stature but his character within. Love was spoken daily throughout the years. The Lord was beside them to calm their fears. They were diligent in all their duties Never shirking their responsibilities. T'wasn't long until they had one in the Hopper. On their tree of life, Laura Michelle was the topper. Now she's grown and wed and blossomed threefold With Courtney, Chelsey and Caleb, more precious than gold. Though London may boast of their Big Ben Martha's Ben has a luminous face with a grin! His smile is contagious and spreads all around. Big Ben's steady cadence is a joyful sound! When they're your friends, you are truly blessed. To that many are found to confirm and attest! T'will be forty years, come January 30th, 2009 No ruby's radiance could ever outshine... The love between Martha and Big Ben Hopper!
