Another Rock and Roll Icon has died;
Who really was the father of Rock and Roll?
First it was Elvis now the voice of Bo!
Buddy Holly the Beatles one by one,
Cocaine, drugs in the hand of a gun.
Remember Elvis singing, "How Great thou Art?"
"Let me be your Teddy Bear", "Early Morning Rain."
Now, like the world, all about violence and destruction.
Oh yes, the day the music died, one by one!
It's raining again outside another melancholy day;
Listening to do wop, remembering the words they say.
All about peace and love, save hatred for another day.
John Wayne, Red Rider, Tonto, Red Skeleton at play;
I miss the fifties, the sixties, the days we honored our country!
They are taking, "In God We Trust", off the dollars today,
It started when some imbecile took the Pledge of Allegiance away.
You know when we pledged it was to a country, a nation,
It wasn't to a religion, per-say, but to God in your own way.
