 He was an Average Person

He was just an average person
With a dream for success
He studied back in High School
He always was well dressed
He got himself a good job
Took pride in what he did
He saved up all his money
He wanted to be rich

He didn't love the money
The things that it would buy
To him that wasn't special
He only wanted time
He knew that he'd get married
And be a dad himself
He knew that for his children
He'd have to lend his help

One day he met this woman
He knew she was the one
They spent so many evenings
Having plain old fun
He knew that she was special
Because of her beliefs
One night when they were dancing
He got down on his knees

With people all around them
He asked her for her hand
He told her that he loved her
And gave her a gold band
Her eyes became all teary
This was a great surprise
She told him she accepted
He wiped her teary eyes

The wedding was just perfect
A very special day
All their friends and family
Had only good to say
The bride and groom were pictures
Of what true love should be
He looked just like a new king
And she was his new queen

They got to raise a family
They way he dreamed they would
They taught them all the right things
They did the best they could
Because he started early
And saved each single dime
He didn't give them money
He gave them all his time

His children are successful
And raising families
They may not all be wealthy
With many special things
But what they have is better
Than money will ever buy
They have so many memories
Because he gave them time

Because they were so gracious
They have a great reward
This very special couple
Are going to meet their Lord
He's going to take them with Him
He feels it is the best
To all their special children
They made them feel all blessed

He was an average person
To the naked eye
But he was more than special
He gave them all his time
