This is part of a series of poems
coming from a children's story
beginning with the poem titled:
"MAGIC WATERFALLS UNDER SHADOW MOUNTAINS"
Continued from last poem:
So of course they would all go off to find
Mom and Dad. For this honorable deed their
parents could not be mad. First place to look a
cabin in the valley near a sparkling brook.
In the kitchen to find Mom, Tanya--no, Dad Dan
was the cook. But Tanya needs to be there to
be in the book. So Tanya dear is usually in the
kitchen this time of day. But the kettle was
cooking unwatched souping boiling away. This
for Ty brought much dismay. An active boy he
needed nourishment to go out and play.
Not finding Tanya whose beauty needed no redemption,
For all knew her beautiful beyond description.
There only Hannah who rhymes with banana. Now
Hannah was a bright young girl who had been left
by Mom with a chore. But Hannah found watching
soup cooking quite bore. She was reading a book
and her chores did ignore. She might as well go
with the other kids to the world to explore.
For the lunch had boiled away. Hannah would be
restricted by the end of the day. She might as
well go with the other children off to play.
Now where could Mom and Dad be. Hannah alone had
a clue you see. But hidden in her heart some devil
amongst the glee. For she would fool the other kids
tee hee---! She knew Dad Dan had gotten up early
to do some fly fishing. Right away she could see
his bait can was missing. She had seen the two of
them at the door a kissing.
Now there was something Cousin Skyler could not
understand. Why did Dan fish in the river but
stand on the land. Why would he fish for flies?
they were much to small to eat in size. But she
was only four not all that wise. Saying nothing
she would cover Hannah's---ah, Lies? But Ty knew,
were flies not always found around dead fish. Dad
would use them for bait if that was his wish. He
would have told them Mom and Dad were cleaning fish
If Hannah would concur. Had they asked her knew
where Mom and Dad were.
