Poetic-Verses from ATHANASE

FRISSONS (English)

Frissons

for Bernard Bouguénec

'And these dreams flying...'

   Philippe Desportes

Orchids and fish
float peacefully
in the ornamental pond.

A woman in a thin white dress sails past
among trees decked in pink flowers.
The May air is full of feelings and frissons.

The flutes of birds,
the infinite perfection of the heart
when it draws close to what it desires.

Only the dead can no longer feel such pain!

translated from the French of Athanase Vantchev de Thracy by Norton Hodges
