From the Heart Through the Pen

Ain't It Funny How

Awite baby, here's my speech
First, I'll go and take my bow
But ain't it funny how
Just a minute ago
You were the one being unfaithful
Now it went from yours to my show
While you're casting stones

For as long as I could
I stood by your side playing the fool
While you broke the rules
The very same vows
That we swore before God, family and friends
Ain't it funny how now
This you're trying to disavow

When you asked for your space
I wasn't that ugly
When you comforted me
While tears spilled down my face
I tried to kiss you and was pushed away
Now this is the very thought
I constantly try to erase

Thanks for the round of applause
But let's rewind, hold up, right there
Place it on pause
At that moment when I knew
You just weren't going out with friends
I realized it was time
To bring my stupidity to an end

If those promises you couldn't keep
Well, now it's my time to creep
I'm not sorry that I got caught
Just sorry it had to come to this
So please don't play the Innocent Victim
For I know the role far too well
But now you say it's time to bid farewell

Well I agree, it's time to go
Yes I still truly love you so
And I still believe you're the one
But if it's only me who believes
Then there's no hope for us
Or I guess now, it's you and I
All that came about, ain't it funny how
