Contemporary poetry by Dan Donlan

THE FAT LADY IS SINGING IN SEATTLE

The Mariners are sitting alone in last place
The Cougars Huskies losing a disgrace
Now the Seattle Storm falls to Sparks
My beloved teams swimming in sharks
Well at least we had the Seattle Seahawks
Even those Warriors can't get off the blocks
We had the Sonics and they were doing well
Then the best players and team the owner did sell
This lying dude from oil country our city came
Stole the one team that might have still had game
Now I know how Cubbie fans must have felt
You came to each game to have your heart melt
Come on Tampa bay and the Cubbies give losers a chance
Walk over those Yankees and Red sox to the dance
Remember all those Mariners left for more money
I hope you all lose and won't that be funny
