ebony eyessnippets of daydreams when we were so young when promises meant a lot out in the sun when shadows were rare and kisses were free when we danced in the moonlight just you and me the pastures were rich and the cockerel did crow the little dog barked and they put on a show the tractor rolled onwards as the farmer did sing when the rivers were fresh on the first day of spring i remember your smile then as you ran oer the stream the sound of your laughter was a site to be seen the fishes did leap and the trees they did sway when i held you so close till the end of the day your bonny frame fortune was gifted for me when you swang on the swing o'er the lea the sun did a dance and the daisies were spread when we were both children and so easily led the orchards were rich with fruit on their boughs the blossoms were fragrant and the milk from the cows the farmyard was muddy and you a sight for sore eyes how i wish i had known you then my ebony eyes Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem
