It was a rainy day in 1938 March third
A tiny baby cried out not really heard
1944 things were tight a world war
My father was a lover not a fighter for sure
1948 I lived on mean street but hardly cared
"Your just like you dad!" It was fist for those who dared
In 1951 a loaded gun I pointed at dad
The gun misfired but a boy a lad
Things got better took aggressions out in sports
1956 I graduated with grade point out of sorts.
My step dad said the Army will make a man out of you
OK, it was just the National Guard a year or two
Four years Air force from a boy a man now grew.
Fatherhood, Grandfather, this man that I now be
Watching these kids grow better men than me.
This a strange write I am sure. But today my Grandson
was selected in his class to monitor discipline in
his school. His job is if any children are fighting
or arguing the children come to him intercede and resolve
the problem before it gets to fighting and if it does he
wears a vest that allows him to break it up until adults
arrive.. Only the top kids in his class are chosen. Kids
look up to him for all the reasons they did not look up
to his Granddad. Not because he is tough he is a black belt
but because of how he gives them an example of how to behave.
