Like Sand in the Wind
I had you in my heart
I had you in my mind
I had you in my hands
I thought we had nothing but time
You had me here waiting
Waiting for your cue…
Just a sign that you were ready
For you to whisper, “I love you too”
So as the sand falls from the hourglass
I feel you slipping from me
You tell me to hold on
But carrying both of us isn't easy
The wind blows even harder
It carries my tears as you fade away
I hold you ever tighter
Just waiting for the day…
Your grip begins to loosen
You tell me, “Don't let me go”
I grasp at nothing as you drift away
But only I will be alone
Like sand in the palm of my hand
The wind keeps carrying you away from me
Guiding you to other paths,
Making you forget where you should be
At times you fly too far;
I worry I'll never get you back
Then I begin to fade, too,
For I can't take when it's your love that I lack
Like sand in the wind
Our love is lost to us…
Scattered, but still there
Stuck, like a layer of dust
