Contemporary poetry by Dan Donlan

MOM'S FINAL WORDS

"Danny, Jesus is here to get me."
And with those words I felt the presence,
"You mustn't worry about me!" and I could see
The Cancerous pain was gone she was free
Set free in her belief In Jesus Christ as Savior
Now I am not preaching in these words so true
Nor would I say you must believe what I do
I have nor would Mom hate a person for what they thought
Nor have a change in any ones Religion have I sought
But I do wonder why this world cannot live in a peaceful way
That just for religious reason people are killing every day
With all the resources lost in these endless wars
Could with humanity open up and feed the starving poors
