dorset pride

All along the Dorset coast
men got into their boats
little crafts and dinghy's
anything that would float

they rowed into the channel
out to foreign shores
to save the British army
from the German foes

the brave men and the valiant
trapped on Dunkirk shores
all young men trapped next to the waves
in another long lost war

there were sailors all retired
fishermen and friend
they sailed from Poole and weymouth
to save the soldier men

when they got the call to rescue
they took it all in stride
they rowed and sailed through turbulent sea
to save the nations pride

there on the shores of Dunkirk
they saved the country's best
all good men and noble
they put them to the test

the country folk and farmer
the workers of the land
the brave young men and uns
they sailed against the tide

then gathered in the harvest
the best of England's pride
