I sat on the wind swept beach all alone
The wind uncovered what I thought was a stone,
As the wind blew it uncovered some more
But my eyes couldn`t believe just what they saw.

You only hear of these in fairy tales
Not washed up on the shore by storms and gales,
But here it lay right in front of me
Exposed by the wind for me to see.

It looked like it was a genie`s lamp
But the sand on it was ever so damp,
I picked it up and I gave it a shake
This wasn`t real it was just a fake.

I gave a laugh then I rubbed it down
Then a genie appeared wearing a frown,
`So you think I`m a fake` is what he said
This must surely be all in my head.
`I`ll grant you a wish, I`ll show you I`m real`
So I said to him, `You`ve got a deal`,
`So name your wish and I`ll grant it for you`
I said, `Send me to the one whose love is true`.
Now this I knew would not be easy
`Cause the one I love lies across the sea,
He laughed and said, `That`s an easy one for me,
I`ll set you afloat on the open sea`.

I`ll tell you what it is he did to me
He shrunk me to fit in a bottle you see,
He set me afloat upon the sea
`I`ll come too so when you arrive I`ll set you free`.

So for far off shores we two set sail
I hope and pray my wish doesn`t fail,
He said, `When land I espied I would see
That my true love will be waiting for me`.

I`m coming to you leaving these shores behind
In your arms I know true love I will find,
So look for me on the incoming tide
Then forever I`ll be right by your side.
