Manifesting Janus
Sirius bays at the nascent star rising.
Gilt with gold in portent glow
a messiah is coronated and robed
in empyrean clothes
and nacreous prose.
Dim tears of REM fall so slow
as the solstice draws close
for no visionary will awaken.
Chastened by hatred,
ill illumed we dilate into
an overdue revelation
as lesser luminaries
are successively subsumed
into the mesmerizing glare
of the younger sun.
In Numbers unctuous
the night-blind
align behind the One.
Stunned, we are left to stare
into the Eyes of the Nile
as Jeremiah smiles
at what we have already become.
As twilight succumbs to rhetoric,
in sunset silhouette
we are a litany unsung.
So let us be bitter,
so let us be undone.
Cygnus is eclipsed
by an encrypted horizon.
Lying just upon the cusp
trust the messiah to rise
just left of Lyra.
Recited in likewise
westward whispers
are Zephyred aloft
on twisted wings of Pegasus
as a star-crossed legacy
yet deafens us.
In mirage the dawn is lost.
Mere Matins muttered unto Mecca,
our longing psalms but an echo
scattered within this sere
desert of dust.
Come thus to Compline
he promises us
a softer daybreak...
our altered thoughts
such a small sacrifice
to make.
No one wakes
as Apocalypse approaches
occult and slow
though thrice the cock crows
and the cultivated rose
is slowly opening
Dulcet,
prophesying beyond prose
only a Poet knows
what the yoke of a new age will bring
when you take hope...
from a Changeling.
