"Dress Rehearsal"
"Dress Rehearsal"
She looked around as she stepped on stage
Opening time would soon be near
She had studied her lines, page after page
Hoping she wouldn't feel anxiety or fear
This dress rehearsal made all seem real
And made certain, everyone was prepared
Exact placement and lines, were a big deal
And for this, she felt a little scared
All she could do, was to try her best
And to do, as the Creator had instructed
So tonight would be the final test
She hoped, no points would be deducted
It was the Producer, she had to please
And too, the Creator of the stage play
Studying, every moment she could squeeze
So she'd appear perfect, in every way
Then, thinking, on this whole matter
She likened it to her time, on earth
The thought made her happy, then sadder
For she knew it held much worth
For life is a "Dress Rehearsal" as such
That determines our entrance, above
Its "Life's Play" that should concern us, much
With, acting out God's commandments, and love
Dwelling on her life, and its meaning
Life really was a dress rehearsal, too
Making sure its to "God" she was leaning
And to Him, being faithful and true
For if we do as the "Creator" has written
Following, every line and every cue
Not like Eve, and the apple that was bitten
But to obey, God, all our days through
Then, when God has judged our performance
And declared us worthy to share His domain
We will praise Him, with singing and dance
Gaining entrance, where He'll forever reign!
