Obsession

He found so very many ways
Not to use her name
So not to use it at a wrong time
And bring her family shame
He called her woman of fantasy
She of the mystic airs
Creature of my fantasy
She who doesn't know I care

And he loved her in his heart
And he loved her in his soul
Thought she was the one
To make his being whole
He walked through his mind
Slid through his dreams
Became the very centre of
Incredulous schemes
Until the day she spurned him
Though in truth it wasn't so
Unaware of his existence
How could she even know

Now he smiles when he recalls
That touch of her last breath
Clasped  there in his arms
As she slid into her death
And she's in his mind for ever
In his own peculiar hell
Glides through his dreams
Trapped in his solitary cell
