We made it to Zillertal, climbed out of the town,
Saw the Ziller River and its Valley down below,
Breathed in the beauty of that pure Alpine air
Then it was finally time to up sticks and go.
Leave was nearly ended.
All money nearly gone,
Right time for goodbyes
And quietly move on.
We'll change trains at Munchen,
Wally said , that will be best
And spend a little time there
At the Oktober Bier Fest.
There was a kiosk on the platform
Selling honest Loeuwenbrau Pils;
It can be bought in England now
And every single taste still
Takes me back to that kiosk
We had four hours to spare
And every single second
Was spent drinking there.
Why waste time, Glasby said,
Looking for a bar
The beer won't taste any better
Than it does where we are.
We never saw Munchen
Just its railway station,
Waiting for the train
To our return destination.
We went walking there in Austria
When we were young and daft and free,
And it still seems just yesterday,
