They pierce my dreams
Those wailing cries;
Now Fate decides
Who lives or dies.
Under my Red Cross,
My armour of hope,
I search for bodies,
Lift, peer and grope.
This was a market place
Where they could trade
Essentials of a life
But now a carnage made.
We broke a peace of a type
Threw an iron tyrant down
Now I stand covered in blood
In the remains of a town;
We promised hope;
We promised peace;
We promised all
Freedom and release.
It all went wrong.
Were we too late?
How did we come to earn
Such a passionate hate?
Above the siren's scream
