The things you believe me to be...

Am I really all you believe that I could be
knowing the sadness these thoughts would bring
surely I'd remember the pain etched in your eyes…
if I was all these terrible things?
I remember you smiling, laughing and happy
I remember the softness of your soft soft skin
I remember how much always I'd loved you
but the thought that I hurt you destroys me within.
Not one for perfection though honest as could be
so many wars fought… but it seems all fought in vain
for what have I gained by losing your true love
if losing you is all in this life that remains?
So wonderful your laughter bringing joy ever after
your pictures always smile back at me
but your memories of past years… fill me with more tears
for the things that you believe me to be?

For you Jessica
