Why Are You Haunting Me?

I still feel the heat of your hand
Something for years I did withstand...
As you beat me down onto the floor

With a soft belly full of child
You let your anger run wild
As I screamed for help behind a locked door

The hurt and all the shame...
Sometimes I take the blame
A memory that simply cuts me down to size...

I try so hard to let go..
Though I know it's so...
I can still see the anger in your eyes
