American Dreams v

I'm sitting in my garden
With a stein of Pils beer,
Johnny Cash is on my IPod
Breathing music in my ear.
Waylon is queued,
The next artist on,
Both from my era,
Both of them gone..

There's a new country music
That as brash as it's bold
But somehow if fits
Along with the old.

Iraq and Afghanistan
Still fester on;
I think it will be a while
Before they are gone.

The financial system creaked
And wobbled but it stood
As the world worked together
So maybe it brought some good.

And Obama is in power
Promising a bold new deal
Making many overtures
To help old wounds heal;
Things aren't perfect
But to me it seems
There's  greater realism now
To those American dreams.
