English Language (humor)

Just thinking about the English language
Some of the odd and strange word usage
Like bookworm, but where's the worm?
Little children still wiggle and squirm

Sandwiches, no beach around with sand
Meat between bread, I could understand
Green onions, but are they really green?
Doesn't make me hungry it would seem

Ketchup, sounds to me like a game of catch
Different ways to say tomato don't match
Child-proof bottle, even an adult can't open
Tests strength and grip, at least I'm hoping

Grape jam and door jam, not close to the same
Teeter-totter or seesaw, oh what goofy names
Electric power drill and “ouch” dentist drill
First for construction, other for a tooth to fill

Jack-o-lantern or scarecrow, I'm not scared
Game of truth or dare, will you take the dare?
French fries, not even coming from France
Porcupine, with pine needles, not a chance

I could go on and on throughout the day
With more crazy examples along the way
Talk about food, my tummy now says eat
Later it is off to bed early, boy I am beat!
