WHEN THE FAMILY CARETAKER IS DOWNThe wife and I a couple years ago received a trophy, "The family caretakers!" I am not so denuded not to know it was more for my wife than I the deliverer But when someone is old or down she is there One of her acts of kindness is making meals Many a time I have delivered boxes of cooked food Last week she went with me to Nanny Not always a good thing now I also do laundry She was cleaning out their shed slipped and broke an ankle The option for not staying down is surgery This is not a woman who easily stays down. The kids arrived today with a truckload of food They cooked food all day and the freezers are full I mentioned, "Did you know--!" Tomorrows and one day next week meals are arriving from a friend Word is spreading fast and we are running out of places to put the food and yet who more deserving than she who gives and what goes around comes around Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem
