Each New Day

No more your gentle kiss in the morning light
no more your touch to warm each new day
the winds of change have taken you far from me
and each new sunrise…  forever this way
I knew not why this life should suffer so much…
was my soul guilty of crimes long ago?
always I loved true and loved more as life grew
but never a love… I could know.
So no more your gentle kiss in the morning light
and each new day I now face alone
no more a shared glass of wine on a winter's eve
or your smile… to welcome me home
life has decreed that its just not meant to be
and fighting this left me sadder in every way…
but now I accept this and remember the good bits
and happily wake up… each new day!
