Teeing Off

I asked her
And she said yes
To my surprise
I must confess
So we played our game
All that afternoon
Hours that passed
All too soon

And she said we'd maybe
Play a game again
But she didn't know where
And she didn't know when
Said she'd enjoyed
So very much
And very soon
Would be back in touch

She brushed my cheek
With her fingertips
As though to prepare
For her warm lips
I kissed her hand
Said I would wait
And we left the green
By the old lych-gate
