Nanny
When I was a child, you were the light of my life
You were always there to protect me, and hug me at night.
When I got in trouble, and did something wrong
You always stood in front of me, and said leave him alone.
I remember the stories , that you would tell
As you rock me in your arms, in the rocking chair,
out on the front porch.
Telling me stories of your husband , my great grandfather
And his musical band..
How sad you were, that he had passed away
At such a very young age.
As time went on , we had many adventures
Like water ice's in the summers , with very salty pretzels.
Trips to the sea shore, with walks on the beach
Walking on the boardwalk , and you giving me many treats.
When came bedtime , I would come in you room
You would always pull down the covers, to make me room.
At those times , I knew I was loved, with all your kisses and all your hugs.
Like anything else, there came the day, when you passed away
I knew at that monument, it was the end, for hugs , kisses
And for someone who cared, no more stories on the front porch
In the rocking chair.
A few weeks later , I was sitting in your room.
When all of a sudden your rocking chair began to move.
At first I was scared, but then it came clear
You would never be in live forum, but you would
always be near.
