Mystery Adventure “GG” 2009

Back home from a two-day bus trip
Going alone, until I received a tip
Another lady needed a roommate
God's blessings never come late

Norfolk, NE was last pick-up point
Short break at McD's, a busy joint
Toured the Johnny Carson Theater
With a 12-foot sculpture of a panther

Next, on to the Elkhorn Valley Museum
Johnny Carson gallery in tribute to him
Square turn tractor, awesome invention
Video displayed its movement in action

Lunch served there by several on the tour
Extra special touch to all of us for sure
Quilts on the wall, so precious and dear
One with a scene each month of the year

From Norfolk to Neligh, oh what a sight
Pierson Wildlife Museum, almost lifelike
Over 400 in the mounted animal collection
Hunted by Dr. Pierson, a must see attraction

Then to Niobrara to Kreycik Riverview Ranch
Covered wagon ride gave us a privileged chance
Viewing herd of elk, deer, and buffalo up close
Fed them ears of corn, but don't pat their nose

Dinner close by at a privately owned elk lodge
Delicious buffalo roast, everyone would allege
Then off to our final destination for the night
After a scenic, fun-packed day, a welcome sight

We stayed at the Fort Randall Hotel and Casino
I do not gamble, instead enjoy rummy dominos
Brochure stated no casinos, so it was contrary
I did not take part, at least it was all voluntary

Breakfast, on our own, supposed to be included
Mix-ups can happen, as the tour guide alluded
Orders by menu, not buffet, caused extra delay
Yet it was a beautiful, brisk morning and day

I asked the tour guide, one of my poems to read
“Who Is The Creator?” God is awesome indeed
We drove across Chief Standing Bear Bridge
Enjoying a scenic view to the farthest ridge

Then we went to the Ashfall Fossil Beds in Royal
Dating methods I do not agree, to God I am loyal
Looking closely at the Biblical account of creation
Our earth is much younger, the Flood caused erosion

After an hour, we had lunch at Green Gables in Orchard
The secret had now been revealed, that clue was very hard
Another wonderful meal, placemat settings of olden days
Cute gift shop upstairs, special treasures in so many ways

Our final mystery stop was Cuthills Vineyards in Pierce
While I did not partake, wine samples quenched thirst
Now it was homeward bound and we even arrived early
New friends met and memories we will cherish dearly
