SHADOWS  IN THE NIGHT

I was maybe five or six
Took my dog Barney along for kicks
The dog with a thousand licks
Run away have to have a friend
I choose my friend Jim in the end
We were stupid didn't bring water
Day started cool but it got hotter
Jim and I were going to run away
No more would we listen to what Mom had to say
This lady said would you like some lemon aid
No dummy these kids we had it made
When we told Mom were were going to run away
She had us followed all the way
It was getting late Jim saw a black cat
He said to me, "Dandy do you know where we're at?"
I only knew that walking makes one tired
If someone would come and take me home they were hired
Suddenly we turned the corner in the shadows a friendly face
An older neighbor kid showed us the steps as our trial we retraced
Mom was there with a sandwich and she wasn't mad
We promised never to run away again which made her glad
You know we never saw one child molester on our trip
Just teasing seeing if you are following get a grip
