Leave the Past Behind
Things that once had value,
Now worthless under Christ;
And all we did accrue,
No more are you enticed.
It is far more than that,
Many material things;
At the drop of a hat,
Bought for pleasure it brings.
Many things on this earth,
Are not a true treasure;
And quickly lose their worth,
In losing their pleasure.
But in order to gain,
Inheritance through the Lord;
I no longer now retain,
What I had once adored.
It means nothing to me,
Manmade objects from here;
And would blind me to see,
That my Savior is near.
The Lord will surely bless,
Leaving the past behind;
When you pray and confess,
For clearing heart and mind;
