Give me a son, who will be,
With the insight for to see;
Directing where he can go,
Flowing blessings that flow.
Make him strong enough to know,
How and when for to say no;
While brave enough to face,
Dangers in a darkened place.
And at times when he feels weak,
He will know just who to seek;
Having no need to bear fear,
Knowing God is always near.
A son that will not repeat,
Where mistakes had caused defeat;
And will admit to those mistakes,
Subject to the mess it makes.
A son who will do the deeds,
For others before his needs;
And learn to stand in the storm,
When to keep cool and be warm.
A son that has a true heart,
With words from God to impart;
Using them to help abide,
Following God as his guide.
