Adolescence

Summer holidays never finished did they
The last easy day waiting for the end
Then the long walk through the park
With a few of my school friends
For the bus back to the country
Leaving them all back there in town
For undisturbed weeks in the village
To unwind, relax, settle down

Six weeks of freedom
To roam at will
Six weeks of freedom
All that time to fill

Long walks down Lambwaths
With the other village boys
The quiet of the countryside
After all that townish noise
Then one day we'd wake up
Realising it was almost too late
Just one more village day and then
Back to the townies and the school gate
