Lifted

Of course we plan to stay.
What's wrong with status quo?
With all that we've accomplished,
Why should I let go?
Sunsets hear no screaming,
Ice no longer cracks.
Drama and a rainbow
are all this fairytale lacks.
She speaks no words to scorn me
I have finally won her praise.
Decades I spent working
For these, the pleasant days.

For such a youthful being
She certainly showed vision!
Sensitive, her spirit
But accurate, her conviction.
Cynical, I doubted.
Yet now I see the connection.
The resolution to her misery
Hid simply in perfection.
Polish 'til it's spotless
Smile although it hurts.
And by giving what she could never receive,
She finally broke the curse!
