Springtime's past

Remember soft your thoughts of springtime's past
when star filled nights… till morn would last
as the moonbeams lit our love struck way
while hand in hand we learnt too play.

So many games, beneath the schoolroom stairs…
in fields of corn we'd all strip bare
daring each other as to what we would show…?
groping and pulling, we just didn't know.

Loving and lusting it all seemed the same
remembering the sweet kiss, but forgetting her name
bulges in classrooms showing our pride
some classmates laughing… others would hide.

Drunk nights with loose girls feeling delight
diseases and itching… anti-biotic each night
chest hairs and muscles sprouting all round
police cells and prison, derision abound.

Now springtime's past and only memories remain
but sweet each thought of those long past days
and many young ladies I now remember so well
remembering the memories…
for all they might tell?
