 Expectations or Grace

When you have unrealistic expectations
It can lead to guilt or self condemnation
Trying to please everybody is hopeless
Instead allow God to be your sole focus

Guilt arises when you stumble and fail
Negative self-talk continues to prevail
Satan finds great pleasure in your plight
Further distracting you from the Light

God created you for His infinite plan
As revealed by the Holy Spirit to man
Unique to your individual personalities
He then fashions your gifts and abilities

Freedom results when living in His grace
Receive His forgiveness in the first place
Learn to forgive yourself when you fall
God always loves you the same above all

Expectations of others do not matter anymore
God accepts you as His child forevermore
Relax in the promise that your sins are gone
Buried in the sea through what Jesus has done

I heard it takes ten thoughts that are positive
In order to replace each one that is negative
Read, meditate, and study His Word daily
Memorize, hiding it in your heart continually

Rely on the work of the Spirit to change you
Not by your own strength in what you do
As you are faithful to His Word and obey
His Spirit will guide each step of the way

Begin prayers with adoration of who He is
Instead of coming to Him with a long list
Confessing known sins brings restoration
Thank Him, pray for others in supplication

God already knows your burdens and cares
But longs for you to come to Him in prayer
Sharing your heart with Him brings release
Like a weight lifted, He fills you with peace
