EVER LOVE SOMEONE SO MUCH

The dying kind of love
Ever loved someone so much
and broke up and thought you would die?
Cried so much you could no longer cry
And then could no longer recall their name
Love and infatuation are not the same
I remember some have forgotten the rest
For only one love lasted was the best
One girl could not forget me nor I her
She is married with Grandchildren I hear
I see her now and then for she lives near
The choice was not really our own
And I was only in her heart on loan
Two of those girls are immemorial
I bow my head now and then for they were not mine alone
Some loves in our life are not to stay
And in each life some have just gone their way
The times were good when I knew them that day
So I won't dwell with you what might have been
For the loves that passed I could not win
