My name is Michelle. I'm 35, I have a B.A. in English and have been writing pretty much since I learned how to make up a story. Poetry, however, is something I have only been doing for about 6 years or so. One day I just decided to write a poem and ever since then - with the occasional bout of writer's block getting in the way - I seem to come up with a poem for almost everything that happens in my life. I try not to be too sappy and hopefully my sarcastic and ironic edge comes across in my poetry. I am not looking for a pat on the head or a sympathetic note from people. A good portion of my poetry is fictional, though, we all know, all writing comes from experience ... at least good writing does. Honesty, I feel is important to a good piece of poetry, so I try to be as honest as I can - hopefully writing poems that almost anyone can relate to in some way.
Well - go see for yourself. Click on Poetry to the left.
Enjoy!
"Adam was but human-this explains it all. He did not want the apple for the apple's sake, he wanted it only because it was forbidden. The mistake was in not forbidding the serpent; then he would have eaten the serpent." (Mark Twain)
"The United States behaves like a salesman with a fantastic product who tries to force people to buy it at gunpoint." (Emma)
"Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." (Benjamin Franklin)
