She begins to tell her story
With a teardrop in her eyes...
A tale of molestation
So atrocious it defies
Any doubt or any question
To make it register as odd,
But, in the middle of the story
She softly smiles the words "then God."
Never used to public speaking,
He slowly stutters to begin.
Yes, he is the perpetrator...
He stands guilty of the sin.
So ashamed of his wrong doing
He downplays any façade,
Yet in the middle of his story
He mumbles out the words "then God."
A dirt streaked yet sweet smiling face
Posing for the photograph...
The youngster has just recently
Learned what it means to laugh.
A childhood filled with poverty...
Hungry roads much too well-trod...
But, in the middde of his story
The youngster blurts out but "then God!"
She seems to be so out of place
And just a little bit afraid.
She holds out both her arms to show
Ugly marks the needles made.
Then, in the most vigorous of voices
Ever heard upon this sod,
Comes the remainder of her story
When she sings out the words "then God!"
Two old and very wrinkled hands
Raised high to praise the Lord.
A lifetime spent in intersession
Finally reaps its just reward.
Seems her children, once such rebels,
Had discontinued to maraude.
When explaining their decisions,
She emphasises "and then God!"
The evangelist grows troubled...
Seems his crowds are thinning out.
His revival has been sabotaged...
Satan's dirty work, no doubt.
Would be converts swatting bugs...
Until he witnessed something odd...
A massive cloud of mosquito hawks!
Hallelujah....and then God!!!
Christ specializes in conversations...
An intro out of all the craze.
Each story changes its direction
With every sure life changing phrase!
So if you're standing in a hard place...
Uncertain of the path you've trod...
I promise He'll be there to guide you...
Then you can know your own "then God!"
