When literature became mythic for me, I despaired
over it ever really being of any use to people. Just look
at the Victorian novel and see it trying to teach about human
society. Poetry hungers after the human also. But in this
terrorizing and unreal society we find ourselves in, poetry
has less to give us. I think you will see that preoccupation
and knowledge in my poetry both today and in the years to
come. I hope you will read it and come away with a sense of
my vision for the times. What hope was there and is there any left?
