Hope's and dreams, don't cost a Dime
She was born to a share cropping family, her Momma wasn't strong she'd been a sickly child, bearing six young'ins had taken it's toll, by the age of thirty five, Momma looked sixty years old, there was noth'in ever spoken bout love and such, but I sensed that their hearts, never held very much Every thread on her back well worn by some other, she soon came to despise the word charity, snickers and giggles always whispered her way, so she made herself this promise, as she walked home one day You'll never see me beg'in, or bow my head in shame, I'll make an honest liv'in with these hands my God has gave, and I'll wait forever if that is what it takes, for fall'in in love, never comes to Late, my hopes and dreams don't cost a dime, no one can ever take them, because they are mine Poppa said girl, you ain't had much book learn'in, before you turn a fella down, ya better think long an hard be'in in love's not all it's cracked up to be, marry you a fella that'l put a roof over yer head Get them silly notions of love out'a yer mind, a hard work'in man that won't beat ya, is hard to come by, girl you need to let go of yer stubborn pride She looked at her Poppa and this is what she said, you'll never see me beg'in or bow my head in shame I'll make an honest liv'in, with these hands my God has gave, and I'll wait forever, if that is what it takes, for fall'in in love Poppa never comes to late, my hopes and dreams don't cost a dime, no one can ever take them because they are mine.
