OBSERVATION
The words came and sprinkled
across my calm and quiet mind
like that of a light mist and rain
They shimmered and dulled
they rang out and silenced
upon the doorways that held them
Some were then stenciled
upon pieces of blank paper
and the others left to fall away
Perhaps we do this to find sense
to remark their small existence
to make memorable our thoughts
What do our expressions mean
the mere process of feelings
and our vocabulary to reproduce
Our words can sound superficial
and some can sound off trumpets
just as a simple birth of discovery
A standing ovation comes and goes
or an audience that will not listen
we can only see their significance
I am a writer without the face makeup
I am a sheltered eccentric individual
I am naked and honest beneath it all
I am printed and I long to be read
for the hidden eyes behind masks
perchance you will find you in me
I have startled off the crowds
that would pass judgment and cruelty
I have drawn in the compassionate
But I know the human need of resistance
and the revolving word of empathy
so I do not sheer off the simple things
The silent response can be detrimental
to the eyes and ear of our human hunger
I write to resolve and to lend compassion
