This is for my Grandma Taylor
Thank you for the horehound candy and teaberry gum
Knowing where we all were and trying to keep us under your thumb
You have a strong spirit that has drawn us all together
Though the storms have been strong you have brought us in out of the weather
You have been so long waiting for this day
And my papaw has come with Jesus and has taken you home to stay
From salamanders in the sink to kittens behind the flowers
We have read the lighthouse news and talked and played for hours
I always hated bath time you had to chase me through the house
Naked as a Jaybird I hid quietly as a mouse
We may lose people that we love though it is our loss it's their gain
Where she is right now there is no sorrow and no pain
For all the songs that has been taught to me
She is heaven bound and glory she will see
The tears in my eyes may be selfish it is true
She is in a better place and how much I loved her I know she knew
The last few months for me has been truly my honor to help and care for her
She brought me and my momma closer that was in her plan I am assured
Her education wasn't high but she was so much smarter than me
She gave her heavy burdens to god and he would set her free
I will never snap another bean on the front porch with her by my side
But nor will I forget her laughter and her eyes so bright and wide
Goodbye grandma, this rose for you to take away from here
I have heard the flapping of the wings and know he will hold you dear
