It's mostly about relationships and the whole yin / yang thing between people,
especially those who love and live together. Or it's about the absurdity and
inevitability of growing old. Or maybe the mystery of life and all its uncertainties.
It's nearly always rhythm and rhyme for me. And none of this King James English
or convoluted sentence structure. Make it flow and make it fit today's lingo and
styles of communicating, or else just go read the classics, drink Sangria wine
and sniff some roses.
Active verbs and interesting metaphor give me some punch. Basically old school rhythm & rhyme.
However, I do enjoy the occasional excursion into free verse, if I want to focus in on descriptive
school-of-conscious flights of fancy. Oh yeah, don't forget some nostalgic symbolics. I strive to communicate those experiences,
emotions and thoughts common to mankind, but in a way unlike I've seen or heard it put into words.
Hopefully it works for others who may care to read. If it doesn't flow, please let me know.
I am open to and welcome to your critique or comment. I remain, unabashedly yours.

The Poet
This is cheaper than therapy and I enjoy playing with words and rhythm.
I'm a 50ish man-child who has been married to the same incredible woman
for over half his life now. She is the lantern light of my poems.
I seek to chronicle the joys and the difficulties in staying together and in
some semblance of love in a world turned inside out from wasted opportunities,
unexpected role reversals and under-appreciated blessings.
I am a truck salesman and soccer referee who enjoys music, movies, and contemporary
American poetry. I began writing poetry in the mid 90's and have assembled
about thirty finished poems, mostly rhyming poems, but some free verse stream
of conscious efforts. I would love to publish my efforts, but don't know where to turn,
or what avenues to pursue. Any advise is sought and welcome.
